Patent Brokerage

Protect it. Prove it. Profit from it.

IP2GO-Pro is a Swiss patent attorney firm in Renens that also brokers patents: it helps owners sell or license their patents, and helps companies and investors find and acquire patents. Every mandate is backed by valuation and portfolio advice from a European and Swiss patent attorney.

We help you decide whether to keep, sell or license a granted patent, and then handle the transaction.

How a transaction runs

Whether you sell, license or buy, a transaction goes through the same five stages, with a patent attorney involved at each one.

Common questions

Find answers to frequently asked questions, or contact us for more details.

How do I sell a patent?

Start with an assessment of the claims, remaining term, jurisdictions and evidence of use. We then prepare a sales package (teaser, claim charts, family data), identify buyers or licensees who work in the technology, approach them under NDA, negotiate price and terms, and close with an assignment agreement recorded at the relevant patent offices.

What is a patent worth?

A patent is worth what a buyer or licensee will pay to own or use it. That depends on claim scope, validity, remaining term, the size of the market that uses the invention and how easily use can be shown. Valuations combine cost, market and income approaches; we explain which fits your case.

Can a patent attorney broker a patent sale?

IP2GO-Pro combines the brokerage role with patent attorney advice on validity, scope and transfer formalities. {{TODO: client to confirm brokerage fee model and any professional-conduct disclosure required for a patent attorney acting as broker}}

Should I sell or license my patent?

Selling transfers ownership for a price and ends your annuity costs; licensing keeps ownership and can bring recurring income. The comparison table above sets out the main differences.

How long does a patent sale take?

It depends on the portfolio and on demand in the field: a buyer must be found, carry out due diligence and agree terms. After the initial assessment we give you a realistic timeline.
